If you appreciate sleek lines and futuristic design, few cars compare to the BMW i8. But even the most eye-catching vehicles lose their shine without proper care. In this detail, I performed a full exterior and light interior restoration using top-tier products from Gyeon, Koch-Chemie, and AutoFinesse — delivering a flawless, protected finish worthy of a hybrid supercar.

🚘 Detailing a Modern Icon

The BMW i8 is a unique blend of performance, efficiency, and design. This particular unit had light contamination, embedded grime around trims and badges, and needed paint protection to restore that signature deep gloss. Here’s how we brought it back to life:

🧼 Full Detailing Process

1. Wheel Deep Clean

The detail began with a meticulous wheel and brake area cleaning:

• Gyeon Iron to dissolve embedded iron particles

• Gyeon Wheel Cleaner for overall surface cleaning

• Koch-Chemie Green Star to degrease and deep clean

  All applied and agitated with AutoFinesse Hog Hair brushes to access tight areas safely.

2. Pre-Wash with Green Star

Next, Koch-Chemie Green Star was applied across the lower panels, bumpers, and crevices. Using an ultra-soft detailing brush, I gently agitated stubborn grime and road film.

3. Snow Foam Application

A thick layer of foam was applied to the entire exterior to fully loosen remaining contaminants before any contact — reducing swirl risks and improving finish clarity.

4. Safe Contact Wash

Using high-quality microfiber mitts and the two-bucket method, I performed a swirl-free hand wash, ensuring the paintwork remained flawless throughout.

5. Blow-Drying

To eliminate towel contact on delicate panels, I used a touchless blow-drying technique, ensuring safe drying without adding micro-marring or swirl marks.

6. Interior Quick Clean

A light interior refresh included:

• Vacuuming all carpets, mats and footwells

• Wipe-down of plastic trims and touch points

  Though light, the result was a much fresher and cleaner cabin space.

7. Tar Removal

Using Gyeon Tar, I removed bonded tar spots from the lower panels and behind the wheel arches — prepping the paint for final protection.

8. Final Protection with Gyeon Cure

To enhance and lock in the gloss, I applied Gyeon Cure, a SiO₂-based sealant that boosts hydrophobic performance, slickness, and shine.
